Nepal / Pokhara day 3 – Let’s get high!

The only high I am interested in is the top of the mountain 🙂 Yep – total nerd and proud of it! This is what I am aiming to reach today – the Peace Pagoda – to please my inner-Buddhist. You can see the little white tip peeking over the mountain. Blessed with gorgeous weather. Ram, the owner of the Blue Planet Lodge and my surrogate family during my solo stay here, has arranged for philosopher / comedian / bodyguard / guide Raju to show me around.

First part of this long trip: we need to get across this lake to get there. The butterflies in my tummy are getting ready – they know what’s coming!

Words fail… So much beauty, so uplifting and therapeutic.

I can always count on 2 mothers to fix me no matter what the problem (my mother and mother nature). At the moment the first mother is not too happy about this solo trip to such a remote location but the second mother seems to be totally spoiling me. I hope they don’t talk any time soon 🙂

This is where we get off and the one-hour climb uphill begins.

Pit-stop. Breathtaking…

Raju on a typical resting spot, you can find them ever so often, all the way up. “Money can buy you a comfortable bed and a nice house,” he says, “but it can not buy you good sleep.” Can’t agree with you more Raju 🙂

Finally here! Was worth the blood, sweat & tears (and sunburn!).

We say a little prayer to the gods and start back down. World peace is on the way!

The way down just as pretty as the way up but not so jungly (new word).

What blues? Back to my usual annoyingly happy self 🙂

Next stop – Devi’s falls named after Mrs. Davis who (you guessed it) fell!

Next stop, International Mountain Museum. Seeing actual climbing gear from the 50’s was quite interesting.

The day ends with me raiding the hotel fridge for dinner (one of the family now), nice chat with Ram followed by coffee with fellow-traveller who has taken a 1 year sabbatical and is also staying at the Lodge.
