The happy dentist – German Dental Clinic at the Jumeirah Lake Towers

My uncle is a dentist. I love my uncle. I love dentists. Since my cuddly uncle is too far away I have to make do with the ones here. Dr. Hamdy Al Banna from the German Dental Centre comes very highly recommended. ‘He is so nice,’ they say. I think but nice does not a good dentist make… I am assured of his dental skills and the eternal optimist in me is sold.

It is early Saturday morning when most people should be asleep. I know he has rescheduled at my convenience and I am expecting at least a bit of a grump for being inconvenienced so early on a weekend. I walk in and am instantly loving the place. All the retro deco, jukebox, guitars – I feel like I am back in the 60’s.

The friendly staff seemed *genuinely* friendly and happy. Also, they were able to un-confuse me when I had called earlier with directions and I didn’t have to repeat anything twice (neither did they – just sayin’). You notice these things in Dubai…

The doctor is here, there no grumpiness and instead it is smiles and sunny energy everywhere! Another fellow happy-for-no-reason-person! I am very relaxed. Too relaxed. I confess to him that I hate to floss. ‘Good!’ he says, ‘how else are we dentists to make any money?? Don’t floss, don’t even brush your teeth!’ Hmmmm… He opens my mouth. I neither saw nor feel that injection! I suspect dental hypnosis?? Everything is done in a few minutes and I am good to go. He gives me a little tour of the office first.

He shows me the disco lights and the smoke machine. It is for his clients who have birthdays! What a happy man. What a difference a smile makes. I would even pay extra for this. But I don’t have to at all. Not are the prices only reasonable but I also know he throws in free bits and pieces when you are a repeat customer. Not only a ball of positive energy but also clever 🙂 May he prosper, prosper, prosper. Amen.

For the kiddies 🙂
