Oasis Resort
I wake up in the Oasis Resort to a beautiful morning way too early. Great way to make my final day longer.
I am doing 2 of my favorite things here – book & hammock.
The skies are blue and all of the new age ‘being in the present’ and ‘enjoying the now’ thingies everyone raves about comes very naturally.
Loving every second.
Bliss…
Random couples doing yoga on the beach.
My room is up front, to the right. The rooms that are not facing the sea are around 1,500 Rupees and just as cosy. All of them have a nice terrace area and hammocks.
Dunes for breakfast
Dunes, also in Mandrem, had been highly recommended as another place where we could stay and do some yoga. They were fully booked but we do have some breakfast there, check out the huts and approve it for next time. There is free internet and sockets you can power up your laptops with in the restaurant. Prices for beach huts are around 1,200 Rupees, less than half of what you pay at the Ashiyana and more than half as good – sweet!
La Plage Ashwem
We head to La Plage at Ashwem Beach – supposed to be one of the coolest places there. You can lounge on the loungers or eat in the restaurant.
We catch up with Angelika and Selim one last time before I head back. Roberto is also here. He is Spanish and lives in Mumbai. He keeps us all entertained.
Roberto is a typical Leo and has many opinions: one for him and many for anyone else who needs some. He reckons I should have the beetroot and mango carpaccio so I do – it is delicious!
Apparently the tuna dish is the most popular dish at La Plage. I have a quick taste and I can see why.
Shirley Valentine… I wanna rip up my ticket and hide under the table until my plane leaves but it doesn’t quite work that way…
I begin to notice the subtle differences between the beaches. This one has more palm trees and some rock formations that add a little more depth and variety to the beauty of the place.
Until we meet again…
Not a terribly suitable surface to sit on to say the least.
Heading back to Mandrem – just takes a few minutes.
You say hola, I say goodbye! Final dip in the sea.
The sunset from the terrace. Shame the sun doesn’t rise as well as set from this side, would have fancied that view to say the least…
Goodbye Oasis, was an absolute pleasure! A lot of people were staying here and attending yoga classes a few steps away in the Ashiyana. Not a bad idea for next time.
We rush to have a quick dinner for my final night in Goa. We are in Bardo in Ashwem. It is a beautiful lounge-bar-club and it makes me wish we had actually put away our organic ginger tea and picked up a mohito or two instead for at least one night of our stay.
This was a nice goodbye and I know that if I were to take some time off Goa would definitely be one of the two places I would live in for a few months. The other would definitely be Nepal.
Rhiannon and I share a taxi to the airport – she is kind enough to take me along as she has already got a transfer arranged.
We end up with Uday, our guide for the city tour, as our driver to the airport. I am like a zombie and exhausted, when we reach the airport I forget my Blackberry in the car where it is charging up and Uday makes sure I get it back – angel! Bless the honesty and kindness in humans.
Goodbye Goa, you have yet another person completely in love with you!
See you again very soon 😉
