India / Goa / Ashiyana Yoga Resort / Arambol – fat bottoms and funky people

It is 7:45 am at the Ashiyana Yoga Resort. We drink fresh ginger tea just before our 2 hour morning yoga session.
Communal breakfast/dinner table. Pretty…
Later we have a little chat with Birgit who runs the Ashiyana. This is the other side of her office which doesn’t have walls or windows. Why doesn’t my office look like that?
Three of my favorite obsessions: books, nature & hammock!

We are in dreamland – whether asleep or awake.

Interesting fish bait – chicken’s foot… set out by the chef of the resort. Hmmm…

Arambol is only about 10 minutes away by taxi and about 40 minutes if you walk on the beach. Lots of lovely shopping to be done, flea-market type shopping, the only type I love (apart from books). We take a little tour.

We find a restaurant called 21 Coconuts on the beach.

Travel tip:

When in doubt, always pick the restaurant with the most people in it or the most cars parked outside it. When going cross-country, do go into the diner with the most trucks outside: people who have to drive for a living always know the best places to get a good, reasonably priced meal. We are on the gorgeous beaches of Goa so no trucks here. Another thing to do is to check on Foursquare, it will give you the nearby restaurants along with reviews. Unfortunately, all the reviews were in Russian so had to just go with the first tip. It worked.

We had every intention to go up the Arambol hill that everyone talks about after lunch but got very happily glued to the table and did not realize hours and hours had passed after our deep-dive into catching up best-girlfriends style.

Feyza fights bacteria with antiseptic wipes. Her with and myself without the wipes, we didn’t get food poisoning, not even once. India didn’t live upto its most notorious reputation.

At the 21 Coconuts I kept getting told off for not finishing my food. I christen him ‘daddy’ by the end of it.

Yes, toilet!
Was wondering why oh why this had such a funky shape… are bottoms just very large in this side of town?? Then I realised it was so people could have a choice if they wanted to plant their bottoms or their feet on the rim. Too funny!

We decide to walk back to Mandrem via beach.

We come across the beautiful Mariya Karma – psychotherapist / shaman. She is bewitchingly beautiful. They have have an interesting technique called Facial Asymmetry Therapy where your past and future selves get to have a word with each other and sort out any issues. I found that my past and future selves are great friends and I have no issues! This cost me 500 Rupees and was a very interesting exercise.

The old-fashioned approach 🙂

It is almost sunset and everyone is getting their zen on.

Too pretty! We decide to have a Kingfisher / cappuccino break on the way back and watch the sun as it sets.

Back at the Ashiyana. What a pretty place.

Feyza… some people you never run out of things to talk about. For a girl who is addicted to change I am very happy when some things remain the same.
