We are at our usual (for now) Friday brunch spot – More Cafe. It is purple everywhere and I have a feeling there is a Turkish element in play here as ‘mor’ means ‘purple’ in Turkish.
This is my favorite bad influence & sister from another mother and Godmother of all stray cats in Dubai, Samira a.k.a. Barbie. I used to always be her momma but over the years the roles have been switching and she has managed to out-wise and better-advice me way too many times now. She would *never* admit to it but I think my little baby is finally a grown-up! Shhhhhhh… We bump into the boys and share the brunch, but the boys are acting like girls and claim it is too hot on the beach still. It is a Dubai trend to switch to chilled-water swimming pools during the summer and beach during the winter. Unless you are a total beach-bum like me.
Picasa says…
Random car at petrol station. The driver didn’t look like a headbanger but the car did. Loved it!
Incredibly windy at the beach. Lots of kite surfers out flying – fun to watch.
Must admit we were amused by this Russian boy in his red speedos and captain’s hat but then realized he was communicating via sign language. We then loved him and his perpetual smile 🙂
Al Ijaza Cafeteria
What they don’t tell you on Lonely Planet: this little cafeteria on the Beach Road has been there for 22 years. You will always find a line of cars waiting to be served (Dubai style – they bring it to your car so you don’t inconvenience yourself by stepping out for a second. Everyone is royalty here). Love the fresh fruit juices and little sandwiches. Price is in reverse proportion to the satisfaction gained.
