India / Goa / Ashiyana / Oasis Resort / beach chill day

I have cats – 2 of them. My regular first thing in the morning usually consists of waking up to sweet, warm kitty cat snuggles then surrendering to the real world: hair, (rush) make-up, suit, heels, car, (rush) traffic, (rush, rush, rush)…

My first thing in the morning has turned into waking up in my bamboo beach hut and walking through the palm trees into 2 hours of soothing yoga. I must say I enjoyed every second and now understand why the city version of condensed 1 hour yoga is simply not enough. One must breathe, one must soothe the soul as well as the body.

The yoga halls in the Ashiyana have a very calming effect, the energy is like chicken soup for the weary soul.

Breakfast is served after yoga. Rhiannon – super clever and cute – even when she is eating. We enjoy our organic breakfast together.  Cassie has moved out of the Ashiyana and into the O’Saiba, just a few minutes’ walk from the Ashiyana, and we will try to catch her later on tonight.

I complain about not being able to see any of the other rooms in the Ashiyana. Rhiannon mentions she is staying in the Shahi Suite and we raid her room. It is too sparsely furnished for such a huge size suite but nevertheless truly beautiful. The bed is embedded in the floor, surrounded by sheer curtain. Very organic, very sexy. Makes me wish I had a magic wand and *swisshhh* (honeymoon with Johnny Depp).

Love bubble baths and always use hotel shampoo for having them! Hope she had some.

There is an artist at the Ashiyana and he likes to make drawings of the guests when he isn’t giving sketching lessons. Never had a chance to corner him myself but had every intention to. Next time.

The suite is surrounded by the lake. Feel like we are back in colonial times.

Time to continue doing nothing in another venue – love holidays!

The Oasis is right next to the Ashiyana. We sit in the restaurant and have a few beers, exchange stories and secrets and talk about boys, as girls do.

I want to experience a different type of room and have decided to spend my last night in another hotel. I ask the lady at the Oasis if they have rooms. They do! We go to have a look. Feyza will remain in Goa a week after I leave and is happy to stay in the Ashiyana and not move around too much. Can’t blame her but we both end up with a mild case of separation anxiety.

They have beach huts as well as small rooms overlooking the sea. It is love at first sight!

We go inside the room – love at second sight too! My butterflies are jumping up and down, violently happy.

Love the wooden walls and ceiling. It is simple and you can fully see the sea and hear the waves. The curtains actually *do* blow in the wind when the door is open – perfection!

The view from the terrace – lovely! I am a complete sucker for hammocks. There are also chairs and a table that you can sit on and watch the sunset. There is an attached bathroom and shower. Very basic but practical – what else do you need? I feel at home immediately – some places just have a good feel about them, they just do…

Cecilia from the Oasis – what a sweet lady. She helps me settle in and it is very smooth process. I love it when service is so trouble-free and easy going. The price is extremely reasonable and they are very kind and flexible when it comes to my request for (a very) late check-out.

You can contact them on +919822163886 or oasisgoa@gmail.com.

That’s done 🙂 Can’t wait to wake up to that view!

Back on the beach, Feyza and Rihannon are also excited – it is the psychedelic feather earrings that have them thrilled. Love beach vendors – shopping as you lounge on the beach: two-in-one hedonism – yay!

Selim and Angelika have suggested we walk south towards Ashwem Beach. We take a stroll but head back for the afternoon yoga session. This is our first day of relaxation without anything touristic to do.

Oasis resort by night – even cozier.

We drop by Cassie’s place at the O’Saiba. We are doing it the old-fashioned way – knocking on the door and saying ‘come out and play’. The restaurant there has been the venue for our dinners and we head out there again.

Super-yum!

I love Cassie’s lifestyle – she works a few months off and a few months on. She spends the rest of her days traveling the world! I am in awe of her nomadic existence and have been trying to think of ways to make it happen.

Minimize possessions, minimize liabilities,  maximize contentment… but how?? I guess deciding to do so is the correct way to start so can I safely say that I am on my way??

🙂

**Don’t** wanna leave… I am happy Feyza is staying behind and tell her she *must* keep sending me photos so it is not such a sudden shock when I leave.

Boo (very)…
