We are to take the city tour with an Anita twist – we will paddle our way around. We also have Anita’s son Mr. D with us – proper family outing.
It dawns on me that Annapolis in *not* in Minneapolis – the assumptions your subconscious makes when your conscious isn’t looking. Duh!
The significance of this is that my friend Zeynep lives in Annapolis! It is a wonderful coincidence to be heading that way.
Wheeeee! I haven’t seen Zeynep for a very, very long time. We used to hang out together a lot during my university years and I can’t *WAIT* to see her again!
Seriously, seems like someone pressed the ‘pause’ button. I really can’t believe how this girl looks *exactly* the same as before and has lost nothing of her youth or beauty. We have a really good giggle about the stuff we used to get up to in uni – all the drinking and the idiocy that goes with it! Catching up on more recent events made us realize we had gotten older… but wiser? Wonder if this young-at-heart attitude ever gets old… hehe ๐
Davis’ Pubย
We go to Davis’ Pub. I don’t know who Davis is but I want to catch him and give him a big, fat kiss right in the middle of his forehead for making the most divine crab cakes in the world!
Kayaking around Annapolis
Getting ready for our Annapolis tour via-water-via-kayak. Very exciting!
We get a little briefing on safety and equipment and off we go! We have a guide leading us and sharing all the stories of this cute little city.
This is me happily paddling away, just a few minutes before the plastic clasp of my brand new bikini decided to break in half and leave me topless underneath my life jacket… which is rather freaky when you have been living in Dubai for the past 9 years and are very preconditioned to not let anything immodest slip through the cracks.
I keep reminding myself I am in the States and it is okay to have a peek-a-boo moment if I can’t position the jacket correctly in between all the paddling. Deep breaths & liberation. Not bad – I can get used to this!
Wheeeeee! Loving Anita’s ideas!
They always say the further the genes are between the mom and the dad the healthier and better looking the kids are – our little Mr. D is living proof of this with Indian mommy and American daddy. Add a brilliant mind and a tender heart into the equation (not to mention the dimples) and viola – Mr. Future Heartthrob ๐
Taking a little break and sharing Mr. D – he goes from my kayak to his mom’s after the break.
This is definitely a very preferred way to get around for people of the sea such as my good self. Plus it is good exercise – which will make up for about 2% of the gastronomical sins we are about to indulge in.
Kilwins – pure love!
And this is where a life-long love affair begins. My first ever introduction to the delights ofย Kilwins. Wow, wow and wow!!!
It is okay to allow some naughtiness into your life.
One last stroll around the quaint streets of Annapolis.
What a wonderful family outing this has been! If I had to do this all over again I would do exactly the same: Arrive nice and early, have some nice food, go for a city tour via kayak, hang out in the quaint streets of Annapolis, satisfy the sweet tooth then head back. Perfect!
The sun slowly sets and we slowly make our way back home. We are all smiling ๐
