But not today.
Today we are going to be total girls!On the menu:
* A professional photo shoot
* Shopping (Bianca style)
* Discovering Georgetown
* Drinking
* Drinking (again)
* Storm escaping
* Eating Ethiopian (the food, not the people)
So Anita decided we should get some professional photographs taken because why not. Yes that is a good sentence! My favorite two words are here again (‘why not?’).
So we begin our adventure in Lovely Shots.
It’s actually quite exciting to do this. Funny how people don’t think of it too much but what a great idea to get family or couple portraits done by a professional photographer for absolutely no reason at all. Not just saying that cause one of my besties Josefine is one of the bestest photographers in Dubai 😉
Meanwhile, back in the USA:
Photographing the photographer.
I’m getting my soul-sister ready – not that she needs too much work the little natural beauty.
So I actually took this photo myself when the photographer was setting up and also edited it a little 🙂
This should be posted on the Discovery Channel’s website as it is the rarest thing in the whole world – Anita without a smile!
Confession: I am terribly back-logged on this blog, life has changed entirely, completely, mind-spinningly about 500 times already and I am now living in a little hut on the beach in Thailand and Anita is in Dubai on holiday – without me!!! She is also, worse, without time or internet connection and our almost-daily Skype sessions have trickled down to nothingness leaving me with very violent withdrawal symptoms!
MISS YOU WOMAN!
Ehm! Ok, breakdown over, swiftly moving along…
Meanwhile back in the USA (again):
And one from the shoot.
The shoot is over and we fully recommend the thing we did, where we did it and who we did it with.
Off we go to discover Georgetown.
Showtime folks!
This is supposed to be a pretty good flea market to visit in this area.
As usual any flea market will do – I am delighted with everything here!
Anita and her love for butterflies. I always call her my crazy butterfly 🙂
I was taking photos of some antique silver spoons when the cantankerous lady behind the counter started pointing her, what must have been 100 year old, crookedy finger and started yelling at me for photographing her spoons without her permission.
Here, I was trying to cute my way out of it.
Yes, that’s a verb.
Anyway, didn’t work.
Not even a little bit.
She yelled at me for a good few minutes, bless her.
Anita decided her best course of action would be to laugh her butt off at me and take this photo. So here it is, the memory of that precious moment 🙂
Here are the details of the Georgetown Flea Market again. It’s on every Sunday. Go!
Sights and sounds of the city
This tickled me so I Googled it. Here is the story behind the name.
We make our way to the waterfront in Georgetown, direction Sequioia – nice little word, so many vowels. Nice stroll prior.
Anita loves this place and I can see why. It has lovely views, lounging areas and a huge bar. Everything is outdoors. We pick these seats to people watch.
Omigosh! A bike dispenser! Really – you just put some money into the machine and *click* you can borrow any of these bikes and then return them to other bike dispensers around the city when you are done. How cool!
Point of View Bar – W Washington DC
We are now in the W hotel in downtown DC to experience the Point of View bar – Anita’s other favorite bar here. The decoration was very Disney-esque. I am pretty sure I just made that word up so don’t use it in your exams.
We are unashamedly running around the this elegant bar like unsupervised kids with an alarming case of ADHD, admiring every angle of the panoramic view.
Washington weather is bipolar. A few minutes after this sunny blue smile, the clouds started to gather and there was a storm alert… which got me very excited as I love storms but Anita reminded me that this wasn’t quite like watching it on Discovery Channel. We hit the road quite quickly after that.
Another Disney deco piece. Storm or no storm, girls always have time for a final pose.
Just like a girl who just can’t decide what to text back to her new crush, this DC weather has changed its mind totally, fully and completely a million times and has decided to embarrass all weather reporters by making the ‘storm’ no more than a small spit and a fart from a giggling mother nature and all is well again.
Since it is becoming clearer we are not going to die via ‘storm’, we decide to make a detour to Anita’s Ethiopian Restaurant Dukem and I experience Ethiopian food for the first time. LOVE it!
Tonight I will be wondering where the hell I will be living and how else life has changed by the time I catch up with today and start writing about life in Thailand!
Where were you 10 months ago?
What has changed?
What do you want to change today?
Do it now so that you can look back on today in 10 months
and smile…
Namaste
